We generally have all sizes, from 13 to 22 tooth, of fixed sprockets in stock in 3/32" (normal narrow derailer chain), as well as the older style 1/8" sprockets, but we don't recommend the 1/8" width for new conversions. If you don't specify a width in your order, we'll ship 3/32".In terms of quality, Phil Wood is the best, E.A.I. is second best, with Shimano Dura-Ace and Rockwerks/Surly tied for 3rd place.

Note, most standard track lock rings won't work with a 12 tooth sprocket, because the chain will bump into the edge of the lockring.Phil Wood lockrings work (Phil Wood or Campagnolo hubs).
Older Surly single fixed sprockets were not so good, but they have been redesigned and come from a new vendor, and we like the current batch very much. Note: The Surly Sprockets 17 teeth and larger are drilled for lightness as shown. Sizes 13-16 teeth are not drilled.
If you are using inexpensive sprockets with short threads, a spacer may be needed to allow the lock ring to engage properly. We have had some problems with the cheap sprockets stripping the threads from hubs, particularly when used in low gear combinations. It is a good idea to use a thread adhesive, such as Loctite. This is especially true if you are running a low gear.
This system consists of an adaptor that threads on to any standard track hub, and 6-splined sprockets that slip on to the adaptor. The splined sprockets are held in place by the normal track lockring. To change sprockets, all you need to do is unscrew the lockring and lift the sprocket off! Throw you chain whip away!

Freewheel compatibility notes:Freewheels can fit on most fixed-gear hubs with no problem, just leave off the lockring. Occasionally, you may need to add a thin spacer washer to prevent the freewheel body from rubbing against the spokes. |
