Shimano Nexus 8-Speed Internal Gear Hub

This was my first chance to try the Shimano Nexus 8-Speed Internal Gear Hub. It shifted very well, even under considerable load. The wide range of gears was welcome on the steep mountain road of the test area.

I'm used to front brake on the right, so when I ride other peoples' bikes set up the other way, I tend to wind up using the rear brake primarily, out of habit. The Nexus Roller Brake was powerful and well modulated, but on the long descents it suffered some fade when I tried to stop hard using just the rear brake.
