Sheldon Brown's Bonnet Phrygien

The "Bonnet Phrygien" is a symbol of freedom, dating to the time of the ancient Greeks (Phrygians) who used similar hats to identify manumitted slaves. This version is inspired by that popularized by the insurgents in the French Revolution. I bought it when I lived in France in the bicentennial year 1989.
