Shimano and Sturmey-Archer Hub Generators and lights

  • No worries about battery life.
  • Less light than Halogen systems. But enough.
  • Must build into a front wheel.
  • Weight, Shimano Hub 740 gm : Lights, around 150 gm.
  • Drag is low with Shimano 3N70
  • Moderate cost solution.

High Power Halogen Systems

  • Short battery run times, under 5-6 hours.
  • High light output, Halogen bulbs, 10+ Watts
