Ferrules 5 mm

Ferrules help keep the cut housing end aligned with its stop hardware, helping reduce cable friction.
They are essential for index housing to keep it from fraying.

Crimps-squish these onto the cut ends of your cables to prevent fraying/unraveling of the cable.

Donuts

Rubber donuts slide onto your cables where they run bare, especially along the top tube. The donuts keep the bare cables from rattling against the frame, and also protect the paint from abrasion.

Housing Stops

NOS Shimano Clamp-on double stop for standard 1 1/8" downtube CAH51 $13.95

These allow the installation of any type of handlebar shifters on frames that don't have housing stops or braze-ons on the down tube.
The 1 1/8" (28.6 mm) diameter fits the down tubes of most steel frames.
If you want to use this with Shimano STI shifters, you will also need an inline cable adjuster to allow you to make fine adjustments to the front derailer indexing.

Cable Housing Stop Adaptors (Curved Back) for Brazed-on Shifter Bosses FS1066 $11.95/Pair

This version has a curved back that fits neatly against the down tubes of most steel frames that have downtube shifter braze-ons.

Cable Housing Stop Adaptors (Flat Back) for Brazed-on Shifter Bosses FS1069 $11.95/Pair

This version has a curved back that fits neatly against the flattened projections on the base downtube shifter mounts. This version is the one usually required for aluminum or carbon frames.

Sram Nightcrawler $12.95 This is a bellows device for sealing the vital loop of cable housing leading to the rear derailer. This sharply bent housing section is exposed to dirty spray from the front wheel, which is a very common cause of sluggish shifting.
