The Bianchi Volpe

Bianchi Volpe
Curt Fischer photo
A dozen years ago the original Volpe was the first knobby-tired touring bike of its kind. Today the Volpe continues to show how much fun can be had in the margins between road and mountain.

The Frame

Bianchi SuperSet 2 double-butted chrome-moly.

The Ride

Plenty of clearance for fenders and fatter tires The 35 mm knobbies point the Volpe toward dirt roads, but a tire swap makes it a capable touring or road bike.

Early-production models came with Tektro Mini Linear-pull brakes, but current production models have traditional cantilevers, preserving the tire/fender clearance.

Geometry: Brava, Eros, Giro, Volpe

Geometry: Volpe
